Created by Cilla Maden of collaborate, Eat Green Design is a sustainable temporary exhibition, restaurant and theatrette, hosting diners, guest speakers, and the latest ‘green’ products from 1 to 12 August. This networking and hospitality hub will emphasize building awareness on all levels about sustainable consumption. Eat Green Design acts as a springboard for sustainable awareness to stretch the perception of what ‘sustainability’ means, challenging people to look at the different layers of sustainability and nurturing education and involvement beyond awareness.

The Eat Green Design installation is designed and purpose-built by award-winning architect Hannah Tribe of Tribe Studio, Surry Hills, and demonstrates best practice principles in sustainable architecture and interior design. It also showcases a selection of innovative, sustainable products from independent designers from around Australia including Design By Them, Simon Duff, Toby Horrocks, Lightly, Spaceleft and ISM Objects.

Visitors will also have the chance to book in for breakfast or dinner and enjoy a delicious menu of biodynamic and organic locally sourced food, devised by renowned chef Jared Ingersoll of Danks Street Depot. The meals will bring people together around a table while listening to key speakers talking about sustainable business, living, lifestyle design and architecture while sharing platters of seasonal, sustainable and ethical produce.

The stimulating line-up of over 40 guest speakers who will feature at the breakfast and dinners, include David Trubridge, Paul McGillick, Sandy Debeyer, Ben Peacock, Kent Gration and Rachel Bending.

The project itself serves to investigate, uncover and make transparent the ‘whole-systems’ behind design while demonstrating that sustainability not only does not compromise design aesthetic or value, but adds a level of sophistication to the design agenda.
